Keynote „What do you think about sovereignty?“
Jutta Horstmann takes up a highly topical subject in her keynote speech. Under the title „How do you feel about sovereignty? - A review after 7 months of the Digital Ministry“, she recalls the coalition agreement between the CDU/CSU and SPD, which is entitled „Germany - Digital. Sovereign. Ambitious.“ raised great expectations. But seven months after the new government took office, the question arises: has digital sovereignty passed the test?
In her analysis, Jutta Horstmann shows what has become of the ambitious promises, what digital strategy Germany really needs to meet geopolitical challenges and what central role open source plays in this. Her article makes it clear that digital sovereignty is not a vision, but a necessity, and open source is its foundation.

Lecture „Cloud native groupware! A community must do what a community must do“
Peer Heinlein highlights in his presentation „Cloud native groupware! A community has to do what a community has to do“, he explains what happens when proprietary products are discontinued or bought up by competitors. Your own freedom of choice then quickly disappears. Migrations become necessary, costs increase and dependencies arise. But there is another way: open source software offers the freedom to decide for yourself: about further development, support and partners. Peer Heinlein uses the example of the current case to show what this freedom looks like in practice.
At the beginning of 2025, the file management software ownCloud Infinite Scale (oCIS) was forked to OpenCloud. A bold step that proves how sustainable open source really is and the power of a committed community. Participants will experience first-hand how theory and practice come together when a team decides: „A community has to do, what a community has to do - Let's fork!“
