Heinlein Group appoints Jutta Horstmann as Co-CEO - strengthening Europe's digital resilience

The Heinlein Group, provider of the sovereign communication solutions mailbox, OpenTalk and OpenCloud, is expanding its management team: Jutta Horstmann will take on the role of Co-CEO alongside company founder Peer Heinlein from September 15. With the new dual leadership, the Heinlein Group is strengthening its strategic focus as an active shaper of technological resilience and digital independence for Germany and Europe.

With vision and attitude: new impetus for proven principles

"Digital sovereignty is not a fashion trend, but a question of our future viability", explains Peer Heinlein, founder and managing director of the Heinlein Group. "For over 30 years, we have been building technologies with the Heinlein Group that are independent, open and secure. Jutta Horstmann not only shares the values and vision of the Heinlein Group - she has also proven over many years that she can effectively implement this approach in complex organizational structures. Her experience and strategic foresight are a great asset to us - especially at a time when open source and digital sovereignty are not just political buzzwords, but key building blocks of a resilient infrastructure."

Jutta Horstmann has been active in the open source community for decades and was most recently Managing Director of the Center for Digital Sovereignty (ZenDiS). Previously, as COO and CTO at the international tech company eyeo (Adblock Plus), she was responsible for the technological realignment and growth to over 300 employees, among other things. In all her roles, she has championed digitalization for the common good, open source and sustainable organizational development.

"The Heinlein Group stands for the values that Europe needs now: Responsibility, transparency and technological independence", emphasizes Jutta Horstmann, Co-CEO of the Heinlein Group. "Our vision is secure and free communication that connects people and organizations across Europe - across borders, based on open standards and with the highest level of security. I look forward to developing this vision further together with Peer Heinlein and the entire team - and to designing an independent technology stack for Germany and Europe. This is how we create trust, strengthen digital sovereignty and contribute to an open, democratic society."

A company paving the way for digital independence

The Heinlein Group - with mailbox, OpenTalk, OpenCloud and Heinlein Support - already offers central components for a sovereign and resilient digital infrastructure. The products and services are open source, can be operated independently and stand for data protection, interoperability and long-term availability. They enable public institutions, companies and civil society to reduce critical dependencies and ensure a sustainable ability to innovate. The Heinlein Group is thus making a concrete contribution to Europe's technological resilience - both in terms of the political objectives of the EuroStack and Deutschland-Stack and in the practical development of trustworthy IT structures.

With the new dual leadership of Peer Heinlein and Jutta Horstmann, the Heinlein Group is clearly underlining its position as a credible, experienced and strategically-minded shaper of digital infrastructure. The goal: an open, secure and sovereign future for Europe.
